beyond the veil of appearances

Artists are the tour guides to another realm. This is one of my concepts. The job of the arts is to indicate the formless hidden in the form. If the artists are not doing that, knowingly or unknowingly, then they are not serving art or humanity. Art is indicating the ineffable.

This series of paintings called Beyond the Veil of Appearances was inspired by the birth of two grandchildren. It started as a visual wondering about what those new-born babies radiate, what space they inhabit. It continues with images - I don’t say portraits because the attempt was to go behind portraiture - of their blissful mothers, meditators, sages etc; people who seem to exist in a climate of peace and spaciousness, of love and trust.
